#Nassau, July 13, 2018 – Bahamas – Commander Defence Force, Commodore Tellis Bethel, along with the Executive Command, Officers, Command Warrant Officer, Warrant Officers, Noncommissioned Officers, Marines, Defence Force Rangers, joined the country in celebrating its 45th anniversary on Monday night.

The Officers and Marines joined in with partner security Forces and uniformed branches on Clifford Park in solidarity to help make the occasion unforgettable.  Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling inspected the troops dressed in their formal attires.  The large crowd applauded the efforts of the hard working men and women, and the Bahamian flag was hoisted at midnight to signify the dawning of independence 45 years ago.

The Defence Force Marines added a zest to the night with an action packed military display.  With a simulated eminent terrorist threat, the men and women gave the crowd a peek of the preparation and execution necessary to take down the enemy.  With a spectacular display of their armored personnel carriers, marines from the Commando Squadron department also descended from the Dr.Myles Munroe Castle when they rappelled down to neutralize the terrorist threat.

Within an independent nation, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force stands tall and proud as a vibrant organization mandated to protect the territorial integrity of The Bahamas.
