Unconventional, New Presidents for Rotary clubs in TCI

#Providenciales, June 27, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Ten year Rotarian Kym Stubbs takes over as the new President of the Rotary Club of Providenciales with a provoking speech aimed at reminding members the mission of Rotary.  The outgoing president, Paul Jobling reflected on the work of Rotary under his tenure as leader, help in the aftermath of the storms was an inescapable mention.

“The first thing that we had to do was to rebuild the park in Grace Bay which was destroyed by the hurricanes.  We have in the past done something for government primary schools on the islands, we donated dictionaries.  This year we decided to do something a bit different, there was a need for school supplies, so what we decided to do was to donate seven and a half thousand dollars worth of school supplies to all of the government primary schools, so that was distributed to all of the schools on all of the islands.” – Paul Jobling

Kym Stubbs, who has earned a professional doctorate degree in the field of beauty was pinned as the new president on Saturday June 16, 2018; she called the moment exciting and admitted that while she may not be the usual, she is certainly a proven Rotarian at heart.

“During the last ten years as a Rotarian, I’ve been involved in many service avenues in the Rotary Club of Providenciales.  I’ve served as Sergeant of Arms, New Generations Chair Director, Vice President Elect, President Elect, I’m a Paul Harris fellow, role of Fund Raisers and Membership Chair, and I also served in various committees in the club.” – Kym Stubbs

A new Rotoract president was also named on the night, set at the Distillery within the Grace Bay Village.  The young adult arm of the club will be led by Brigida Walkin, who was elected to shepherd the 18 to 30 year olds.
