TCI: WATER UNDERTAKING UPDATE

#GrandTurk, June 22, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning, in collaboration with the Water Undertaking Unit within the Public Works Department, would like to advise that despite damage to their 300k SWRO unit, water is still being produced via their 250k unit. However, residents on Grand Turk will experience low water pressure and in the case of Breezy Brae and North Ridge, efforts continue daily, to provide these areas with water on a temporary basis.

Since the hurricanes, there has been a high demand on water services, particularly in cases where persons do not have access to guttering or cisterns or both. However, despite these challenges, the Water Undertaking Unit will continue to supply water to the Island at maximum level via their secondary 250k pump.

The Public is further advised that a brand new replacement part for the main unit has been procured by the Water Undertaking Unit and is expected to be on the in Island next week Wednesday 27th June, 2018, thanks to the swift actions of our US supplier.

Once received, the pump will be installed immediately and the Unit will resume normal water production at high levels as early as next week Friday.  In the interim, we continue to ask all residents of Grand Turk to be conservative in the use and management of water.

We again apologize for the inconveniences in the disruption of our water services and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
