#Providenciales, June 20, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – A seven-week break from parliamentary business ended on Monday, when the PDM Administration of the Turks and Caicos Islands reopened the House of Assembly in Grand Turk.

The ceremonial reopening at the NJS Francis Building where the House of Assembly is located also ushered in a string of new ideas for national development and deeper partnerships.

“Mr. Speaker, educating citizens cannot be achieved by the government alone, it recognizes and appreciates the role private schools play in society.  While it is true that in the past the government focused its attention on improving the school systems, this year we see improved partnerships with private schools. The government has already commenced dialogue with principals and proprietors of the private schools to explore opportunities in which the government can provide greater support to private schools and raise standards in education across the sector.” – HE Dr. John Freeman

Governor of the territory, HE Dr. John Freeman read the mammoth mission of the 17-month old government which also focused on efforts to come to amp up border control.

On this day, the Premier and Finance Minister Hon Sharlene Robinson was due to present the National Budget and the Leader of the Opposition was due to respond to the Throne Speech.
