#Providenciales, June 21, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – A fantastic turn out to the second installment of the Agriculture Department’s Agriculture Show.. an expo featuring two dozen vendors from business development to actual produce and live stock farmers and yes, even schools.

“Now this is our overall winners here, the Snap Center, and they have taken away the overall prize.  As you can see everything here is grown at the Snap center, they even have their own labels.  They are here displaying their trophies that they just won, and all these things are grown in their school garden, right here at the Snap center.” – Hon. Edwin Astwood – Minister of Health, Agriculture

Residents were impressed by the range of products they were able to sample, see and buy.

“I think it’s lovely and I think it’s a great opportunity to showcase homemade stuff, and what the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands are good for.  And these things are wonderful, fresh!  I’m getting crabs and I’m going to get me some papaya.”

Health and Agriculture Minister, Edwin Astwood said the one day display supported the ministries push for healthier living in the Turks and Caicos.

“So you can eat things naturally grown here, animals grown here without all the hormones, it’s much better for us and we think it will do good in decreasing our chronic disease burden.” – Hon. Edwin Astwood – Minister of Health, Agriculture

From pigs to goats to chickens and cows… hydroponics and natural beauty products; everyone agreed that this new thrust by the Department of Agriculture is opening eyes and encouraging residents to grow what they eat, and eat what they grow.
