ECO-OIL GROUND BREAKING CEREMON

Executives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Principals of Eco-Oil,  ladies and gentlemen, good morning.  In keeping with our commitment to bring about economic revitalization and create employment opportunities, the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama is pleased to welcome Eco-Oil Bahamas Ltd to Grand Bahama Island.

Eco-oil Bahamas Ltd has advised that it is an internationally certified company, whose service is the reception and treatment of oily waters of marine and land origin better known in the industry as ‘Slops’.  This investment provides environmental, health and safety support to our expanding maritime industry.  We must find ways to expand the support business for the maritime and industrial sectors and increase more Bahamian involvement.

Eco-oil Bahamas Ltd joins many other local and foreign direct investors who are showing confidence in our local economy with an initial economic impact of $10 million with pre and post construction jobs.

Other companies showing confidence in Grand Bahama economy include: Home Fabric, who this morning announced their over $2 million investment in Grand Bahama, PharmaChem Technologies $180 million Phase 2 expansion, Grand Palm Acquisition (old Ginn Sur Mer), GIBC Digital, Windriver Tobacco, Carnival Corporation – Ocean Medallion Project, Goombay Land, Fowlco Marine & Logistics and a growing list which is evident that Grand Bahama is open to doing business.

In a few days, Grand Bahama will welcome scores of international investors, innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs to the Bahamas Blockchain Cryptocurrency Conference.  With the launch of the Grand Bahama Investment Unit, we are seeking to increase the ease of doing business for companies like Eco-Oil and those coming to our shores for the conference next week.  The work of the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama continues.

On behalf of the Government of the Bahamas, I offer congratulations to Eco–oil Bahams Ltd on this milestone and once again I welcome you to Grand Bahama, home of industry and innovation.
