#Nassau, June 25, 2018 – Bahamas – Phase 2 of Exercise Tradewinds 2018, which began on June 14, culminated with an intense final exercise on June 20 at the South Beach Pools.

This final exercise consisted of a counter-terrorist scenario, which saw terrorist operatives being captured and their international network being disrupted in The Bahamas by a multi-national task force. A simulated arsenal of grenades, bombs, smoke screens and high powered weapons fire were used by the Tradewinds task force in a tactical effort against the terrorists on the southern shores of New Providence.

The exercise required participants to put its preliminary training into practice against terrorists, cyber threats, smuggling of arms and weapons of mass destruction at sea, improvised explosive devices in Nassau Harbour and along roadways, hostile assault on critical infrastructures, and threats to the country’s maritime operations.

Viewing the exercise were Commodore Tellis Bethel, Chief of Defence Staff for the Tradewinds CARICOM Task Force, Major General Robert Branyon, U. S. Southern Command representative, Colonel Thomas Bright, representative of US Northern Command, representatives from local Law Enforcement Agencies.
