#TurksandCaicos, May 19, 2018 – Providenciales – Every year on May 18, museums around the world participate in a day to celebrate their importance.  In 2018, the Turks and Caicos is literally on the map thanks to Museum Director, CandyAnn Williams.

Williams says, “The whole idea is to focus on the heritage of the Turks and Caicos islands how people lived, how they performed their tasks, what was important to them, the things that make Turks and Caicos wonderful.”

The commemoration is a growing trend and across the world, museums will welcome everyone into their halls of history at no charge, free.  The Turks and Caicos National Museum in Providenciales is doing the same.

Adding to the free admission for residents and guests to the country, there is a heritage display and demonstration on from 1pm to 7pm at the Grace Bay Village located museum, including boat building with Reverend Goldston Williams.

In 2017, more than 36,000 museums participated in the event in some 157 countries.  In the Caribbean region, the Turks and Caicos is among the countries marking the day; Jamaica and the British Virgin Islands are also on the map.
