#TurksandCaicos, April 9, 2018 – Providenciales – TeamTCI is returned from one of its most successful Carifta Games showings, in dazzling splendor; four medals including a gold for star decathlete, Wilkenson Fenelon.

Seven young men gave an amazing performance securing hardware also in the U17 4x100m relay where the squad earned a bronze… in the javelin, which was the first medal of the games for the Turks and Caicos  – a bronze won by Katrell Pierre who threw 45.24m and the silver medal show put on in the 800m U20 race by Ken Reyes.

“The race was kind of exciting knowing that we would’ve placed, even though it was our first time at Carifta but we managed to pull off a big task.” – Wooslyn Harvey

“It felt really exciting because it was our firs time going to Carifta and we managed to pull off a bronze medal, and we had a great team and a great coach to coach us, so we wasn’t scared or anything like that.” – Daven Durhan

“Compared to athletes from Jamaica, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, we were under performing a lot, so starting from now, we have to get serious with our training and get ready for next year’s Carifta in the Cayman Islands.” – Joshua Meghoo

The 2018 Carifta Games were held in Nassau Bahamas, with Jamaica topping the medal table, followed by The Bahamas and rounding out the top three overall team performances was Trinidad and Tobago.

“The future looks bright for these athletes, and we’re hoping that we can have some more meets at home, so they can improve on their skill, because normally they only do this at inter-high school or at their school sports.  So we’re looking to have more heats so that we can increase their performance and enhance their overall development in their skill.” – Gertrude Forbes – PR Team TCI
