TCI: Premier Robinson Apologises to Applicants for Customs Waivers
#TurksandCaicos, May 04, 2018 – Providenciales – Premier Robinson regrets that those persons that have applied to her in her capacity as Minister of Finance for waiver of the payment of duties following the expiration of Customs Order No. 2 have not received urgent responses.
I wish to advise and remind all that whilst the Minister of Finance has a disrectionary power under the Customs Ordinance, the process requires Cabinet’s approval. As per the Cabinet Minute released last week, it was agreed that a formal policy be created to capture those affected by late insurance payouts, late shipment and receipt of quotes. I wish to assure persons that the matter is progressing and that responses can be expected shortly.
