#TurksandCaicos, May 08, 2018 – Providenciales – The PDM Government Administration has announced a board of public and private sector professionals which is expected to move the plan of rebuilding better and stronger following hurricanes Irma and Maria along; a process which has been very slow going to the annoyance of residents and government.

“This committee was appointed by Cabinet, and will report to Cabinet, will receive directives from Cabinet, Ministers of respective ministries will shepherd policy as it becomes necessary, but this committee will also appoint sub-committees for critical areas, health, economics, environment, energy, everything you can think of will be included in terms of making sure that we rebuild, and we rebuild resiliently.” Said Premier Robinson.

Wesley Clerveaux will head up the entity.  Clerveaux is the current Permanent Secretary of Education – which has some of the worst damages in the public sector. Schools will take a whopping $4.8m to rebuild.

“This is the beginning of a lot of work to be done, and I’m pleased to be chairing this position.”

The group has not yet met and officials led by Premier Sharlene Robinson were actually speaking to media as the National Hurricane Center put a band of rainy, windy weather over the islands dampening the weekend, regionally.  “In order to manage the recovery plan there must be a recovery task force.” – Premier Sharlene Robinson.

“I therefore take this opportunity to encourage you to take the advantage and take serious action urgently to prepare yourself for this hurricane season, ensure that this season does not find you in an unfortunate position.  Let’s be prepared, let’s do our best to make sure we are ready for the storm.  On behalf of the ministry, we will do all that we can to make sure that we are ready.” – Hon. Delroy Williams (Minister of Home Affairs)
