#TurksandCaicos, May 21, 2018 – Providenciales – Just days after a report out of Grand Turk where a tourist family lost their teenage son in an unfortunate jet-ski accident, Providenciales records another tourist death in our part of the Atlantic Ocean.  It happened around 3pm today at the popular Coral Gardens Beach.

The man is reportedly a guest of the Windsong Resort and had been out snorkeling when he drowned.  Bystanders say it appeared to be of natural causes.  A police autopsy will confirm the exact cause of death.

Throngs of people gathered on the beach, surrounding the body – in shock and utter disbelief at the tragedy, which is an agonizing turn of events for a holiday meant to be filled with loving, happy memories.

Police have not yet commented on the apparent drowning.  Images showed a 911 dispatched EMS team at the scene.

In the case of the jet ski tragedy in Grand Turk around 11:30am near the Grand Turk Cruise Center on Wednesday May 16, it is reported that two jet skis collided; the 16-year-old boy, from the US, was thrown and reportedly broke his neck, dying instantly.  His uncle, who was driving the other jet ski suffered no injuries.  They were cruise ship passengers.

Minister of Tourism Ralph Higgs, later the same day said this:  “A number of key agencies such as the DECR, Tourism and Maritime department recognizes the importance of taking the necessary precautions to ensure safety on the water and will be hosting workshops to further increase awareness.  The Ministry of Tourism in general and the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board in particular will continue to offer assistance to the family in any way possible and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the grieving family.”
