#TurksandCaicos, March 21, 2018 – Providenciales -The rezoning of Blue Hills is expected to create a new boom in tourism for the Turks and Caicos and more directly the island of Providenciales.  The Minister of Infrastructure Housing and Planning, Goldray Ewing in a one on one with us explained that Cabinet has finally approved a Canadian company to develop the National Physical Plan and that will give way to the Blue Hills Development plan and re-zoning.

“The idea of having that happening is coming to the surface, and Blue Hills is target is the next market for commercial hotels and commercial centres.  Grace Bay is on its last leg right now and all attention is being turned to Blue Hills.” – Minister Goldray Ewing – Infrastructure, Housing Planning.

The residential seaside community has been subject to lots of bureaucracy when it comes to land owners who want to transform their properties to commercial land. The plan is to neutralize the matter and make the land fit for residential or commercial construction, without the hassle of special requests to government.  The Minister, who is also the Blue Hills Member of Parliament said his constituency is poised to be the next Grace Bay.

“We will take the initiative and make the entire area commercial/residential and try to cut it up into sensible portions by putting access roads, so that we can entertain stuff like hotels and mini boutique hotels and stuff like that,” said Minister Ewing.

Residents shared mix and interesting views on the proposed Blue Hills redevelopment which is expected to also introduce a more engaging beach front construction in a board walk… some say bring it on, others advise that consultation is key.

“A Blue Hills Grace Bay, with a Blue Hills feel, a more island feel, that will be better for the locals.” – Albert Williams (owner of Froggie on the Beach)
