Woman badly injured, attacked in jitney in Providenciales
#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos – Thursday April 5, 2018 – The driver of a white Nissan car is now a person of interest to Police after he allegedly attacked and tried to kidnap his passenger, a 34-year old woman who was leaving the down town area on Tuesday.
Police say the woman reported the scary situation to 911, describing the man who forced her to jump from the moving jitney as having brown complexion and being of slim build. It was explained to Magnetic Media that the woman was badly injured and that the attack happened in broad daylight, around 3 p.m. this past Tuesday.
Jitneys are illegal, unlicensed, unregistered and their drivers are completely unknown to authorities, yet they are the main mode of public transportation for residents of the islands.
