University of The Bahamas Seeking To Strengthen Connections in TCI

#TurksandCaicos, March 26, 2018 – Providenciales – With over 18,000 alumni throughout the world, many with a Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) lineage, University of The Bahamas’ impact on development, innovation and social progress is profound.

UB alumni are celebrated as leaders for life.

Senior administrators of the University are seeking to build and strengthen connections in TCI beginning with those persons who have passed through UB’s hallowed halls. Led by President Dr. Rodney D. Smith, UB representatives will visit Providenciales this week.

“The institution celebrates the diversity of its student body over the years. Students with a TCI heritage have been a part of us for a number of years. We want to bridge the gap between us and the alumni who are helping to drive those positive changes that are underpinning the society,” said VP Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs Ms Davinia Blair. “If you have spent two semesters or more at UB or its antecedent, COB, you are an alumnus. We want to connect with you.”

Formerly the College of The Bahamas, UB was chartered on 10th November 2016, enshrined in the University of The Bahamas Act.

According to Blair – also an alumnus – the impending visit is a deliberate step towards building relationships that will ultimately enliven the student experience and showcase the successes of former students. Alumni are invited to attend a luncheon mix and mingle at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, 28th March at Kalooki’s Restaurant, Grace Bay. “This is an important information sharing opportunity. We want to see you, hear of your pursuits and involve you in the life of your alma mater. Our President will be there and we hope that this will begin the path to an energized alumni base in TCI,” said Ms. Blair.
