Panama, March 13, 2018 – A boom is coming; this one is in LNG transshipment and the Panama Canal managers touts that it is ready.  It is being reported that as the Panama Canal prepares to welcome its 300th LNG vessel this month, the operations team says their approach has made the handling of these special vessels possible.

The first LNG vessel entered the canal 20 months ago and the transit has grown from being able to handle one LNG carrier to now being able to move two vessels through in one day, in opposite directions.  It was shared that, and I quote, “As we balance the safety of our operations with a new and growing market, we look forward to working closely with our customers, who we realise are increasingly looking for certainty in an otherwise uncertain market.”
