Belize, March 13, 2018 – For every tourist that stayed or played in Belize for the month of October in 2017, Belize tourism stakeholders donated one dollar and that amounted to a sizable contribution from the Belize Tourism Board.  Caribbean Tourism Organization or CTO was presented $119,868 by the BTB after Hurricanes Irma and Maria; two historic storms which decimated many islands of the region.

Participating stakeholders included the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), the Belize Hotel Association (BHA), Tropic Air, the Belize Airport Concession Company (BACC), tour operators, water taxis, and hoteliers among many others.

The Caribbean Relief Fund of Belize is one of those fabulous stories coming out of an otherwise horrible time for so many countries which depend on the beauty of their islands to attract tourists.

The donation announcement came in February during the CTOs State of the Union address, where it was also revealed that for the first time in history, the Caribbean recorded over 30 million stay over guests region-wide.
