BAHAMAS: Fifth ‘Labour on the Blocks’ Attracts Hundreds

#Bahamas, March 30, 2018 – Nassau – On Saturday, 24th March 2018, The Bahamas Department of Labour held its fifth successful “Labour on the Blocks” Job Fair at Windsor Park.  Some 665 job seekers were processed and registered in the Department’s employment data base and pre-screened and interviewed by 16 companies at the event.

The event, though smaller than the last four (4) job fairs held, was still deemed a great success by Director of Labour, Mr. A. Robert Farquharson who was on hand to process job seekers along with teams from the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Labour Public Employment Services Unit.

Minister of Labour, Senator the Hon. Dion Foulkes was also in attendance to welcome and greet jobseekers and employers.  The job fair was held specifically for the constituencies of Centreville, St. Barnabas, Englerston, Marathon and Freetown.  The Member of Parliament for Centreville, the Hon. Reece Chipman was present to greet constituents attending the event.

Minister Foulkes, announced that the next “Labour on the Blocks” Job Fair is scheduled for the Eastern District of New Providence on Saturday, 14th April.  The location will be announced shortly.

The Department of Labour encourages all jobseekers in The Bahamas or abroad, and employers with vacancies to continue to register in the Department’s recruitment database: www.jobseekers.bahamas.gov.bs

Persons attending the “Labour on the Blocks” Job Fairs are asked to bring along their NIB Card, and a valid Government-issued ID such as a passport or voters card.  Registering in the database in advance is also highly recommended.
