TCI: Long Bay High School Embarks on Anti-Drug Campaign

#TurksandCaicos, February 13, 2018 – Providenciales – The Long Bay High School embarked on a Psycho Educational Program last school year commencing December 7, 2017- January 25, 2018 to educate male students about the harmful effects of substance abuse.  The pilot group that consisted of 13 boys was mentored by the Guidance and Counseling Department in collaboration with the Department of Youth Affairs.  The facilitators of the program were Ms. Diane Paul, Guidance Counselor who is also a certified substance abuse counselor and  Mr. Nixon Dickenson, Youth Director (acting).  The topics covered during the program helped students to be aware of the dangers of drug use, resistance skills and focused on social challenges that contribute to drug use.

The culminating ceremony was held on February 8, 2018 on the school’s campus which was attended by parents of the participants.  The feature address was given by Mr. Nixon Dickenson, remarks from the school’s principal and a testimonial by Rodlin Yliodas one of the participants.  Each student received a certificate of participation.

The Long Bay High School remains committed to the holistic development of our students as we prepare them for lifelong learning.
