International Condom Day, TCI remembers

Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands – February 13, 2018 – Today is International Condom Day (ICD), it is celebrated on the 13th of February, the day before Valentine’s Day, International Condom Day is a global event. 

The Turks and Caicos joins the world in celebrating International Condom Day. The use of Condoms not only prevents the chances of pregnancy, but they also prevent sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), HIV/AIDS and reduce the risk of cervical cancer and wart-causing human papillomavirus (HPV) in women. Condoms regardless of the brand or type (Male/Female) can be a fun and fashionable way to protect one’s self and one’s partner, Be True To You.

The day is supported by many countries and provides the opportunity to spread awareness around International Condom Day and condom usage, especially with Valentine’s Day coming, the Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit will also be distributing condoms, educating the public on proper condom usage and conducting HIV/AIDS testing, on Wednesday, 14 February throughout communities. Life expectancy for HIV has increased over the past decade, one must continue to live and protect one’s self and partner by getting tested knowing one’s status and using condoms.
