#TurksandCaicos, January 1, 2018 – Providenciales – New Year’s in Turks and Caicos is somewhat marred by a deadly Police involved shooting and an illegal sloop landing. A police constable and Tactical Unit member is alive after being shot in a deadly confrontation which has resulted in a Kingstown resident being killed.
The man shot dead reportedly fired first, described by some as a prolific offender. Details are scant, but the shooting happened overnight in the area of the former Club 2005.
Fifty Haitians were picked up in Northwest Point, Providenciales. Another suspected illegal landing for the country on day one of 2018. In nearby Bahamas 76 Haitians were captured on a sloop on Saturday in the Exumas; an illegal landing foiled.
