#TurksandCaicos, January 17, 2018 – Providenciales – Oseta Jolly Primary was the only Turks and Caicos school so severely impacted by Hurricane Irma in 2017 that it was completely displaced; the institution and its classes are now split between two centers in down town Providenciales.  Executives at the Tuscany and Venetian, which are leading resort developments on Grace Bay took notice of that fact and brought with them a practical present in a whopper of a cheque.

Principal of Oseta, Rachel Handfield at the temporary campus set up within the Gus Lightbourne Gym braced the children for the announcement.

“We were extremely pleased when we discovered that we were in the hearts, the minds, the thoughts of the #TuscanyandVenetianGroup.  Several weeks ago, when I had the opportunity to be presented with this information, I rejoiced even more than you did.”

A cheque for $60,000 dollars, that money presented to this exuberant bunch who have showed an admirable tenacity in the aftermath of the harrowing hurricane; Jai Tolani, who is a Tuscany & Venetian Board Member, and Terria Misick were overjoyed at the reception to their bid to make a difference in the lives of these hundreds of children, their teachers and parents.

“…my wife and I, we feel very honoured that we are a part of this school, it wasn’t easy, there were a lot of schools that were damaged but #OsetaJollyPrimary was the only school that was fully displaced, and when my wife and I came here to the school we were actually saddened that the teachers and the students were going through and working in such conditions.”

“Mrs. Handfield was kind to show us all the needs that were needed.   The Board of #Tuscany, #Venetian and myself, we decided that it was the best thing to actually give furniture and desks to the teachers so they can better equip themselves.  Going forward, my wife has also done a personal commitment, so we will make sure we carry that and we will try to get Tuscany and Venetian on board also.”

The Education Minister was on hand once again; the second major donation for public schools in Providenciales hard hit by the hurricane last September.

“…to have our corporate sponsors come and join and partner with us, it’s such a great help in the Ministry of Education.  So we say thank you with all our hearts and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
