#Bahamas, January 22, 2018 – Nassau – Relations remain strong between CARICOM member countries Bahamas and Haiti despite the tensions on Bahamian soil about the inundation of illegal Haitians into The Bahamas.  There has also been strong opinions among Haitians and Haitian Bahamians on a deadline issued by Prime Minister Hubert Minnis of December 31 (2017) for all illegal migrants to willfully leave the country or face deportation.

Still, a new Bahamas Ambassador to Haiti was accepted by the President of the Republic of Haiti on January 17, 2018.  His Excellency Jeffrey Williams is the new Ambassador of The Bahamas to Haiti and has taken up residency in Port-au-Prince.

President Jovenel Moise engaged Ambassador Williams in a brief discussion on cooperation in the areas migration, fisheries, agriculture and investment promotion and protection between The Bahamas and Haiti.
