Bahamas and Jamaica bristle following negative US Advisories

#Bahamas, January 17, 2018 – Nassau – The two number one English speaking destinations in the Caribbean have been put on blast by America when it comes to safety and security and satisfaction and now both countries are in damage control mode.   The Bahamas at its popular Fish Fry at Arawak Cay has seen vendors apologize for any negative experiences and mirroring a message by the Bahamas Government to improve service as security is enhanced, especially for Tourists.

In Jamaica, the Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett has launched a campaign.   Minister Bartlett says the $3b in earnings and a record setting 2017 with 4.3 million guests landing on their shores is not to be trifled with.   Bartlett on Saturday in Montego Bay at a food handlers workshop said Jamaica must curb the reports of visitor harassment so as not to see a reversal in the gains made.

Visitor satisfaction in Jamaica was put at 60% despite the harassment issues noted in a US Advisory.  the Bahamas also got that advisory, but it was more severe saying Fish Fry’s reputation for a down home experience was sullied by reports of crime.
