Zipped lips on TCI Immigration matters, including illegal landings in Provo and Coastal Radar

#TurksandCaicos, December 13, 2017 – Providenciales – No one official is talking about the conditions at the Detention Center which we understand are volatile and toxic, sickness is still at the South Dock Road holding facility say those reporting to Magnetic Media.    It was in May this year that a scabies outbreak happened at the Center, that skin disease which was found in a Dominican poacher being held at the facility, remains a problem according to informants.

Last week, two security guards were held hostage in an escape attempt at the South Dock Road Detention Center; it is said the Dominicans and Haitians were motivated to escape due to the unhealthy conditions at the center.   The guards managed to block the break out attempt and the Police Tactical unit restored order.

Now, there are reports of three illegal boat landings in Providenciales and speculation about the country’s coastal radar in the aftermath of the hurricanes.   One Haitian is captured, but residents report seeing suspected migrants running around in their neighborhoods as officers are activated to hunt them down and bring them in.   But officials appear to be asleep on the job, at least when it comes to communicating with the media and by extension the general public.

No reports, no warnings, no updates, no confirmations but lots of ‘passing the buck’.    Magnetic Media has reached out for some statement; we have received nothing up to news production time.
