#Bahamas, December 4, 2017 – Nassau – The case and ongoing trial against former Senator Frank Smith has reached a daunting crossroad after Barbara Hanna gave testimony after strong grilling by the defense that she had a loan with Poulard Ltd, Frank Smith’s lending company and that she gave Police documents to support that.    The Prosecution has claimed that they have had no such documents, so if that is true, the defense has said and believes it makes Hanna an unreliable witness because her credibility would be damaged.
Hanna has so far admitted that she did not want to be in court, has had a fainting spell reportedly but claims she was made to pay Frank Smith $5,000 a month for a year after he reportedly helped her to get a cleaning contract from the Public Hospitals Authority.    Smith’s Defense is also arguing that if the Prosecution is found to have withheld evidence from them, even after being pointedly asked, it points to an unfairness in the case.   Frank Smith’s defense team, led by Jamaican QC, Keith Knight is said to building up to a no trial motion, many believe.
