#TurksandCaicos, December 22, 2017 – Providenciales – In a strategy to woo more European travelers to the territory, Tourism Minister Ralph Higgs recently attended a global conference where he was able to meet with leaders in Germany about the possibilities that exist in getting guests visiting from that country.   During the One Year review press conference hosted by the PDM Administration on December 20, Minister Higgs outlined the move which he called a post Brexit initiative which has the potential to reap good returns.

“This is also a part of a strategic strategy that will serve us well in the post Brexit period.  Many of you may be aware that the German economy is the largest in Europe and Germans are the largest outbound travelers from all of Europe.  It is my government’s belief that in a post Brexit period, we should have good, solid relationships with main land Europe.”

Also for tourism, but a touted boom for construction and construction-realted jobs in the short term was news that the 12-story RitzCarlton Development for Grace Bay in Providenciales is coming.   Minister of Infrastructure Housing and Planning, Goldray Ewing reported during that media meeting that the project has successfully passed through the Environmental Impact Assessment.

“Ritz Carlton, EIA consultation has been completed and this company, this project, this development will be given the green light to move ahead before the end of December.”
