TcI: Aircraft Crash 23rd December 2017 – Update

At round 5:30pm on Saturday 23rd December 2017 a light aircraft crashed near to the Smthco Gas Station. Tragically, two persons died in this crash. In the days following the crash, the scene of the accident has been cordoned off whilst Investigators from the UK Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) and other aircraft specialists, supported by officers from the RT&CIPF and the TCI CAA, worked at the site.

This work has now been completed and the scene of the crash has been cleared and reopened.  The circumstances of this crash remain under investigation which is being led and carried out by he AAIB in the UK.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Trevor Botting said “My officers have handed this investigation over to the AAIB and it remains a current investigation. Our thoughts remain with those involved in the crash, their families and their friends”
