#Bahamas, December 12, 2017 – Nassau – Police on Tuesday hosted a meeting with two representatives of the United Nations Special Rapport, who were here to discuss the elimination of gender-based violence and discrimination against women.    A report is expected to be generated from the session.    Senior commanding officers, led by ACP Ismella Delancy focused on gender based violence education and training for Police, partnerships with non government agencies, records management of domestic violence, rape and related matters, safety tips on the Police website and school intervention and changes to  law.

Police say the objective of the visit was to determine the challenges hindering the protection of women and children who are victims of domestic violence and to determine how support services are organized to meet the challenge.
