#Bahamas, November 30, 2017 – Nassau – No stenographer so no trial to start for Frank Smith, the former PLP Senator who is accused of solicitation of $65,000 in from a woman he allegedly was bribing to help with a government contract. Smith is facing 15 counts of crime in the case which alleges that he extorted money between April 2016 and April 2017 in respect of his duties as a public officer, and actually demanded and received $5,000 per month from Barbara Hanna, knowing that it was illegal to do so. Smith has entered a not guilty plea on this string of charges.
The trial was due to start today instead.
