#Bahamas, December 14, 2017 – Nassau – The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is well on its way to being able to train its sea-going members on the use of its newest class vessels, thanks to the creation of a ship bridge simulator.

A RBDF Delegation recently returned home from attending a Factory Acceptance Test for Ship Bridge Simulator built by Alphatron Marine and V-Step for DAMEN under the Sandy Bottom Project in Rotterdam Netherlands

The Alphatron/NAUTIS Full Mission Bridge Simulator for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force through DAMEN Shipyards was designed utilizing software that incorporates the characteristics of our four major classes of ship and the 60 meter vessels to assist in training BRIDGE teams to operate the vessels in different maritime scenarios.   These scenarios include mooring, anchoring, replenishment at sea, man over board, rules of the road and basically any maritime situation you can imagine in any weather situation in order to train and qualify both officer and enlisted in the proper operation of ship BRIDGE equipment in challenging scenarios.

It is also slated to be used to train new crew members in the operation of specific equipment, like the radios, GMDSS, mechanical equipment monitoring and so forth, in an attempt to seamlessly integrate new crewmembers aboard ship.

It is expected that the eagerly anticipated system will be operational before the end of 2018.
