NASSAU, Bahamas – November 8, 2017 – A wonderful tidbit for you ‘just like to know’ buffs around the world about The Bahamas’ Sir Durward Knowles, national hero and Olympian.

Sir Durward Knowles, who on November 2nd 1917 turned 100 year old, is not only a Bahamian Gold medal champion in sailing at the Olympics level, but he is a double Olympic medalist, having won a bronze for the sport in Melbourne at the 1956 Games and a gold medal for his performance with Cecile Cooke at the 1964 games in Tokyo.  Remarkably, Sir Durward, a Bahamian National Hero is – since May 2016 – the oldest living Olympic Champion, that’s in the world.

Again, Happy Birthday to you Sir Durward Knowles, (left in 1964 photo) proving that it is cool to be a century!
