#TurksandCaicos, November 17, 2017 – Providenciales – Cabinet on Wednesday approved the plan for introducing the Chance for Change program announced the Minister of Home Affairs, Delroy Williams during that media meet with the Government on Thursday.    Minister Williams said next for the legislation is debate in the House of Assembly.

“I’m happy to say Chance for Change was approved and the first draft of the legislation is in place.  Now, there is an application and it will make the process of applying for a clean police record smoother.”

Shockingly, media learned that despite the concept being touted by the former government administration by then Home Affairs Minister as a done deal and an accomplished piece of work, there is pure chaos when it comes to individuals seeking to have police records expunged of old or petty crimes.

“We’ve had recently a serious level of confusion, at the end of the day this process will be made clearer by the proposed amendment.”

No application form in place, no orderly or timely response from those mandated to make the decision and frustrating referrals which created delay, delay, delay for those seeking requests to get a much needed fresh start.

Premier Sharlene Robinson expressed her delight that the Chance for Change is near enactment.
