Turks and Caicos Premier signs new Customs Order

#TurksandCaicos, November 2, 2017 – Providenciales – Premier Robinson yesterday, November 1, 2017 signed The Customs (Import Duty Exemption) (No. 2) Order. The effective date of the Order is the 1st of November 2017 and will expire on the 31st of December 2017.

Persons who have suffered loss during the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria on the provision of proof of loss and damage, ownership and long established ties to the property and value of goods to be imported will be able to apply for an exemption from payment of duty.

The Order contains a list of the items exempted: Sofa, love seat, accent chair, cocktail table, sofa table, end table, bed frame, bed headboard, bed foot-board, dinning room tables, dinning room chairs, mattresses, box springs, dresser drawer and mirror, night stands, chest of drawers, televisions (one per importer/declarant), refrigerator, stove, microwave, ceiling fans.

Individual applications to the Minister of Finance will no longer be necessary. All evidence to be supplied, must be supplied to the Collector of Customs.
