#Bahamas, November 15, 2017 – NassauA man is in serious condition after being shot by Police on Tuesday around 3pm.   A Police report explains that the man likely meant to fire shots at their on duty officers who were on routine patrol in Hillside Estate in Nassau.

Police spotted a vehicle and saw that the front seat passenger was a wanted man but when they tried to search the vehicle … the driver reached under his seat and pulled out a firearm, according to the report.    In fear for their lives, officers shot the driver who is now hospitalized and in serious condition.    A black Taurus 9mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition were said to be found in that car.   The other man, a wanted suspect is in police custody.

Police say it is their proactivity which is leading to the seizure illegal weapons and arrests.

Two more men were arrested after the Anti Gang and Firearms Unit on routine patrol on Moss Road in Nassau stopped a 2005 Silver Honda Accord.   A search of that car turned up an Austria Glock 9mm loaded with a magazine or six rounds of ammunition.   This arrest happened Tuesday around noon.
