#Bahamas, November 13, 2017 – Nassau – Kenred Dorsett, the former Minister of Environment for The Bahamas and his attorneys do not believe he can get a fair trial in The Bahamas and referenced the ongoing trial of former Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick as a case in point. However, Wayne Munroe, QC who is one of the attorneys for Dorsett incorrectly states that Misick wanted there to be no jury and that his attorneys pushed for a juryless trial.
It is actually quite the opposite, Michael Misick, on trial in the TCI for similar offenses to the tune of millions of dollars fought tirelessly to override the British decision to have a trial without jury and continues to call the absence of a jury of his peers, hearing his arguments in court both unconstitutional and unfair.
Dorsett, who is accused of allegedly demanding payments of $10,000 and $50,000 from Jonathan Ash while being a public official; even allegedly threatening the man with a desist of his services unless the funds were paid on his account and who has been unable so far to satisfy the court with alibis for the list of dates investigations reveal that he allegedly committed these crimes, is going for a trial without jury.
Munroe told media that Kenred Dorsett’s celebrity and the nature of the trial will make it near impossible to find a jury without biases. Its back to court for Dorsett and his attorneys on January 11.
