#TurksandCaicos, October 26, 2017 – Providenciales – With her studies well underway, Jasmine Parker, the 2017/2018 TCI Chevening Scholar is already making the most of her study opportunity and Chevening experience in the UK.   Ms. Parker recently attended a Chevening welcome event in London, where she got the opportunity to network with all 1,700 of her fellow Chevening scholars.   The Chevening welcome event also allows scholars to hear from and meet prominent individuals from the UK’s business, academia and public sectors.

Commenting on her experience, Ms. Parker said: “Lord Michael John Hastings’ speech summed up perfectly the reason for studying in the UK.   He stated that, our challenge was beyond getting a great master’s degree or visiting all the 660 castles of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.   Lord Hastings gave us a challenge of discovering the reason we exist.   He gave us a challenge of discovering what we will do with the privileges and assets we, both have and will attain.   Chevening Scholars have this opportunity to become valuable and we need to go back home having sorted out how we will shape life not according to the algorithm but one that brings value to humanity.   He gave a few thoughts on the purpose of life as to serve, to show compassion and to help others achieve their purpose.   I am encouraging interested Turks & Caicos Islanders to seize this great opportunity to study in the UK with a fully funded Master’s degree.”

The Applications season for this year’s 2018/19 scholarship is still open until 7th November 2017 and we encourage all eligible persons to apply.

Applicants should read the online guidance and be able to demonstrate how they meet the Chevening selection criteria before submitting an application. Further details of closing dates and priority subject’s areas are available at
