Turks and Caicos, September 4th, 2017 – Providenciales – All eyes are understandably on the tropics with dangerous Hurricane Irma barreling toward our islands and with officials saying the storm, on its current trajectory, is poised to slam into the Turks and Caicos with tropical storm force winds by as early as Wednesday.
How strong she is expected to be, what kinds of conditions the storm will create, what mitigation is to be activated to contend with the after effects and when will the island be given the order for business as usual to shut down will all be addressed today when the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies holds a press conference.
Joining the DDME in that media meet is Premier, Sharlene Robinson.
Residents started preparations from the weekend, but a rush now to ready themselves is expected to create extra busyness on this back to school day.
