Turks and Caicos, September 11, 2017 – Providenciales – The Maritime Department was informed that a number of persons with boats/vessels have been attempting to transport relief items into those islands affected by Hurricane Irma. Whilst your intentions are good, it is currently unsafe as there has been restrictions with the ability to maneuver, as a result of shift of sand, increased currents, etc.
The Maritime Department is advising vessel operators to refrain from transporting/traversing within these unsafe zones at this time until further notice. Response efforts are limited.
