Turks and Caicos, September 6th, 2017 – Provo – The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital Emergency and Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan is activated today and that means the outpatient department and other clinics at both medical centers close at 1pm and emergency services remains open 24 hours.

Non essential staff are being sent home, pregnant women at 36 weeks or more should check in to the hospital and other high risks clients will be contacted. There will be a move to add to the blood bank but other supplies are adequate, including fuel for the generators.  Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and Cockburn Town Medical Centre are structurally engineered to withstand a Category 5 Hurricane.
