#TurksandCaicos, September 11, 2017 – Providenciales – The Premier Hon. Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson in a Press Conference this morning updated the country on the impact of hurricane Irma throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.  She informed that after traveling to all the island and personally visualizing the impacts, South Caicos is considered the most heavily impacted, however we are grateful that no lives were lost, no injuries and our people are resilient and will rebound from this event.

A state of emergency was declared for the two heavily impacted islands of South Caicos and Grand Turk and immediate resources and relief supplies are being mobilized and dispatched to these islands.

The Premier encouraged all residents to work with the Government as we commence on the journey of recovery.  All residents are therefore encouraged to clean and remove all debris from their premises, place them in a pile in front of their property.  Environment Health are working with PWD and sanitary companies to remove all debris.

The Department of Environmental Health has also begun treating of remaining bodies of flood waters and swamps as well as spraying of vector control chemicals to limit the breeding of mosquitoes.

We ask that all residents, and commercial establishments do their part towards facilitating a rapid recovery and returning these beautiful islands to a state of normalcy.

Please share this message with family and friends to keep all informed.  We are committed to rebuilding TCI together.
