NOTICE OF EVACUATION MIDDLE CAICOS

Turks and Caicos, September 5th, 2017 – Middle Caicos –  Section 24 of the Disaster Management Ordinance (the Ordinance) states that the Governor shall issue a notice of evacuation, if an evacuation is considered necessary where there is the potential for loss of life and injury to persons where there is a threat of a hazard.
The Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is satisfied that due to the risks of flooding and wind damage caused by Hurricane Irma in the Turks and Caicos Islands the potential for loss of life and injury to persons is great on the island of Middle Caicos and has issued an Evacuation Notice for Middle Caicos .
In light of this the residents of Middle Caicos  are ordered to evacuate immediately or in any event by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 6th, 2017.
Residents are required to make their own plans to leave the island of Middle Caicos, however, the Government will be assisting residents to evacuate by bus and by boat.

Note: Residents are required by law to comply with this notice of evacuation pursuant to section 24(4) of the Ordinance.
