#TurksandCaicos, September 28, 2017 – Providenciales – The Premier said there have been no health reports related to a surge in the #Zika virus, a mosquito borne disease which among others things causes Microcephaly in unborn babies. Both the Canadian and UK Governments have cited Zika in travel advisories to its citizens.
Late yesterday, a fogging schedule was making the rounds on social media. This morning areas like Kew Town, all of Blue Hills and Wheeland – including Phase 1 and 2 housing subdivisions were sprayed to help with the mosquito population boom since Hurricane Irma. Tuesday night, the fogging moves into Glass Shack, Discovery Bay, Richmond Hills, Thompson Cove, Turtle Cove, the Bight, Juba Sound and on Venetian Road.
On Wednesday, the mosquito fogging will happen in Long Bay, including Long Bay Hills, Leeward and Leeward Palms and Grace Bay. The notice explained that if it is raining or too windy, no fogging will take place but this schedule will be repeated and residents are advised to try new bug sprays to help in keeping mosquitoes at bay.
