#TurksandCaicos, September 11, 2017 – The Turks and Caicos is facing major restoration as every island in the chain suffered severe destruction in #HurricaneIrma. From, the Capital, Grand Turk to South Caicos and even the cays and the country’s economic center, Providenciales – the task of recovering and rebuilding is a mammoth one and the Premier will today debrief media on what the government knows so far.
Cayman Islands had immediately dispatched help, their Police helicopter got the premier into Grand Turk on Sunday where damages to structures is described as ‘much’. Salt Cay is with the same, structural damages according to a Police assessment.
South Caicos is said to be 80% impacted by the strong Cat5 hurricane, the premier said there was considerable damage as she got an aerial view of the country’s fishing capital. There are relief supplies en route to South Caicos and Grand Turk; the premier also said restoration of communication is a top priority as no one has been able to communicate with loved ones on these two islands.
