Turks and Caicos, September 8th, 2017 – Providenciales – As at 11am this morning, Hurricane Jose graduated to a category 4 hurricane according to the meteorological office. While many countries in the Leeward Islands are still experiencing the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma, closely behind is the growing Hurricane Jose.

At present, Hurricane Jose has maximum sustained winds near 150mph and is moving West Northwest into the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately for Hurricane Irma victims such as Antigua and Barbuda, Hurricane Jose is expected to follow the same path. As such, Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda yesterday announced a mandatory evacuation for Barbuda as over 90% of island’s infrastructure received damages.

Other islands such as Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy and the Turks and Caicos Islands remain under hurricane watch. This is the first time in history that there have been two storms with over 150mph winds (category 4 and above) in the Atlantic at the same time.
