Turks and Caicos, September 12, 2017 – Providenciales – Deputy Premier, Hon. Sean Astwood gave an update on the Military aid from the United Kingdom, which is on the ground in Providenciales to help with relief efforts.

After meeting with the military officials, Mr. Astwood explained what services the UK officials will be here to provide in the TCI.

“There is a small contingent from the UK that arrived yesterday with a larger contingent to follow. Their main focus is the militarian efforts, however, they will also lend help in any security efforts that we need as well. They will deal with health situations, they will be dealing with communications., making sure we get communications up. We know that that’s a big problem in South Caicos and Grand Turk, where the normal telephone carriers have not been able to establish those links yet, because of damages.”

He added that all stakeholders and utility companies such as Flow and Digicel are also contributing to relief efforts to ensure the restoration of services in Turks and Caicos.
