#Bahamas, September 23, 2017 – Nassau – The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) is a Unit that falls under the Ministry of Labor headed by Minister Dion Foulkes charged with the responsibility to inform and protect consumers in the Bahamas.   It is said that an “Educated Customer is the Best Customer”

During the months of September and October, we officially launch our Educational Awareness Programme, focused on our central mission to sensitize and inform Bahamians on their rights as consumers. These Rights are consistent with the UN Consumer Bill of Rights.

Our specific objectives are:

  • First, for consumers to know who we are, what we are about, what we do, where we are located and how to contact us.
  • Second, for consumers to know their rights and know that they can seek Redress once they feel that their rights are being infringed upon.
  • Thirdly, that we at the CPC are here to provide solutions to their queries and concerns. (Once you launch a Complaint, it is submitted to a Complaints Committee who will review the complaint and revert to the customer within the prescribe Standard Operating Procedures. We are committed to address all complaints and queries in a timely manner, and will notify the customer of our decision.

We are taking this campaign to the people and will officially begin tomorrow Wednesday September 20th, with handouts at the various round abouts beginning at 7 a.m.

So look out for us as we provide important information as it relates to Consumer Protection in the Bahamas.
