#TurksandCaicos, August 29, 2017 – Providenciales – It is illegal to #marry a foreigner just to keep them in the country and the Ministry of Border Control and Employment on Tuesday issued a statement to remind the public of this fact.    The notice comes during an immigration initiative designed to crackdown on immigrants who are illegally residing within the Turks and Caicos.

The Ministry also reminded that anyone caught committing this offense will pay a hefty fine and could be jailed; $10,000 or two years imprisonment or both.    It has now been 15 days since the new measures were instituted where anyone found resident in TCI without legal status will be deported and added to a stop list, where first time work permit applications are not being accepted and processed at this time and where travel visa requests for all countries are on hold.
