#TurksandCaicos, August 16, 2017 – Providenciales – The Turks and Caicos Islands Government is moving from cash based accounting to accrual basis and to prepare TCIG for that change, six Finance staffers were recently certified in International Public Sector Accounting Standards.

Deputy Accountant General, Sally-Jean Astwood and Finance Managers: Pamela Clarke, Jonelle Glinton, Kimberly Simmons-Lewis, Letitia Williams and Shandera Hall were during July participants of the program which the Ministry of Finance says improves financial accountability through better financial reporting.

“Strong and transparent financial reporting has the potential to improve public sector decision making and make governments more accountable to their constituents,” said the media release issued on Monday.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Athnee Harvey-Basden congratulated the six, adding this step is just the beginning as #TCIG migrates to the new accounting system in the next few years.
