SALT CAY AIRPORT RE-OPENS

 Turks and Caicos, August 10, 2017 – Salt Cay – The Turks and Caicos Islands Government is pleased to inform the General Public that the restriction placed on Caicos Express Airways Air Operators Certificate (AOC) which prohibited commercial flights into Salt Cay has been lifted.

The TCICAA team, representatives from the Airports Authority and Caicos Express Airways made a follow-up visit to Salt Cay on Monday August 7th, 2017 for the purpose of verifying the additional maintenance work that was done by the Airports Authority. The TCICAA team is satisfied with the work done which led to the decision to lift the restriction placed on Caicos Express Airways.

This is part of my Government’s commitment to ensure that the Turks and Caicos Islands remains accessible. The suspension of flights into and out of Salt Cay has caused the public on the Island most particularly the aged persons and the already challenged businesses much inconvenience and my Government made a commitment to ensure that this matter was rectified expeditiously.

Turks and Caicos Islanders deserves nothing less than a transportation system that is safe, reliable and facilitates trade and the movement of people and goods. I wish to assure the People of the Turks and Caicos Islands that my Government will stand firm on our commitment to strive for a reliable and accessible transport system and barrier free infrastructure for these Islands. And we will continue to back up this commitment with action.
